Blog 4.4: $5 Hi-Fashion Clothing

Describe how the company/business used the four “P’s” to add value and/or promote the product or service.

Product- $5 High Fashion Clothing

Price- $5 for any item in the store. However, the store name is also claiming that it is high quality.

Place- Billboard on a busy street in Los Angeles. I drove past this 2/1/13.

Promotion- This billboard was placed in the store parking lot on a busy street near Los Angeles. It is hot pink with big bold black writing, “$5 Hi-Fashion Clothing.” The picture below will depict a large RV taking up a large portion of the parking lot, which leads me to believe those parking spaces were not in high demand.

2. What industry(s) is the product or service a part of?

Clothing. Retail.

3. Describe the target market.

$5 Hi-Fashion clothing is trying to appeal to the large market in Los Angeles that does not have a lot of disposable income. The hot pink obviously is targeting young women and teens who like bold fashion. This is not modest, neutral colored clothing. This promotion is inferring that their clothes make just as much of a statement as the hot pink walls.

4. Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?

I am not sure. Since the parking lot was not full, my guess is that the store is not that busy. However, since it is targeting lower class citizens, they might not have cars and walk there because they live nearby. I thought the claim of $5 & hi-fashion clothing was unbelievable. You can’t buy high quality clothes for $5. Also, I was confused because I wasn’t sure if that meant everything was $5 or if there are some price ranges.
